When someone asks “What is branding?”, the most common answer is: "Well… a logo?".

And no – it's not a dumb question. It's just… incomplete.

Because while the logo might be the first thing you see, it’s only a small part of what makes a brand, a brand.

If the logo is the face, branding is the soul. And souls – as we know – don't quite fit into a 1080x1080px square.


Branding isn't just design. It's a feeling.


Picture this: you walk into a boutique. The lights are warm, there’s a subtle scent in the air, the staff greets you by name, the packaging rustles just right.That’s branding.It’s the same online: your tone of voice, the colors that calm or energize, the layout that guides you without effort – it all builds a vibe.

Branding is what stays with someone after they’ve closed the tab.

So what is branding, in practice?


Branding is strategy + aesthetics + user experience. In practical terms, that means:


  • Defining your core values and message (what you say and who you'e saying it to).

  • Having a consistent visual identity (logo, color palette, typography, graphics).

  • Using a recognizable tone of voice – one that doesn't change with your mood or the season.

  • Paying attention to details – because people remember how something made them feel, not just what it said.


What does bad branding look like?


Bad branding is when:

  • You sound like everyone else (“We offer innovative solutions for all your business challenges, blah blah…”)

  • Your style changes every week,

  • You copy your competitors hoping to blend in,

  • Or worse – you don't know who your audience is, so you try to speak to everyone… and end up reaching no one.

Most often, it’s when the design is there – but there’s no strategy behind it. Just “make it look pretty.”Spoiler: that doesn’t last.

And where’s the magic?


Branding is a logical process. You plan, write, design, refine. But then – something clicks. Someone sees your brand and says: “I don’t know why… but I like this.” That's the magic. You didn't invent it – you built it.

If you thought you just needed “a logo,” think again.

Branding is the foundation that holds everything together. When you know who you are, who you’re speaking to, and why – everything else follows.

Colors, fonts, content, voice… even the posts you write on a rainy Tuesday evening.
